STUDIO  PIRJO SANAKSENAHO

I'm architect SAFA Pirjo Sanaksenaho. I have been Associate Professor of Building Design at Aalto University's Department of Architecture since 2013. As a partner in Sanaksenaho Architects Ltd, I gained more than 30 years of practical design experience. In the autumn of 2025, I founded my own office, Studio Pirjo Sanaksenaho Oy. My office offers architectural design as well as expert services related to architecture and public art. The firm specializes in detached houses, summer villas, saunas and apartment renovations. I offer the design of public buildings in cooperation with my network.

My research activities are related not only to homes, but also to learning environments, museums and the buildings of the health and well-being sector. I also give lectures, and I am happy to help companies and communities in the procurement of architecture and public art and in organising competitions. My experience in the juries of architectural competitions and visual arts competitions, as well as in the steering group for public art expert training, has familiarised me with the importance of art and architecture in building the brand of a municipality or company.
